Lake Tuggeranong is an
artificial lake in the
Canberra district of
Tuggeranong. The
lake was built in 1987 coinciding with
urban development in the district. The lake was built as a
sediment trap to stop sediment from entering the
Murrumbidgee River.
The lake is a popular recreational site. The foreshore of the lake is parkland, with swimming, fishing, wind-surfing and non-motorised boating all possible activities on the lake. A bicycle path surrounds the lake. On the edge of the lake is the Tuggeranong library,
Lake Tuggeranong College and the
Tuggeranong Arts Centre.
